HONG KONG, 6 December 2018 — Over 80% of the one billion litres of packaged beverages consumed in Hong Kong in 2017 were not recycled. Civic Exchange today supports the report launch of Drink Without Waste (DWW), an initiative which brought together the city’s leading beverage companies and major stakeholders in pledging to recover 70% to 90% of PET containers and liquid cartons by 2025.
DWW Single-Use Beverage Packaging Working Group Chairman and Civic Exchange Board Member Paul Zimmerman puts forward four major recommendations: reduce single-use beverage containers, regulate packaging standards, recover used packaging, and recycle them.
