Civic Exchange has submitted a paper in response to the Council for Sustainable Development’s public engagement on Long-term Decarbonisation Strategy.

Although 2050 seems far ahead, with the current Global Climate Crisis, we all must start planning now for a lower carbon Hong Kong. Civic Exchange thinks, aiming for net-zero emissions as the appropriate direction for Hong Kong, especially in energy generation and mobility.

Decarbonising energy generation and mobility have their opportunities as well as challenges and elements of both could in future be combined. Technology in both sectors are enhancing rapidly and we will conduct further researches to maximise the opportunities these could bring.

Civic Exchange supports the need for deep decarbonisation of Hong Kong and is determined to collaborate with all stakeholders from the bottom to top, on all future approaches and roadmaps we may adopt in decarbonising our city.
