The Value of Carbon in China

WWF Hong Kong and Civic Exchange launched a new WWF report analysing China's growing carbon and CDM market on 21 July 2008, from the perspective of China’s booming energy markets. The report is the first to assess the carbon issue from the Chinese perspective. It explores:

• How carbon finance is affecting technology viability in China;
• How the market itself is being regulated by the Chinese government,
• What market actors feel needs to improve;
• Whether high quality projects are being delivered; and
• The potential opportunities for technologies to benefit from carbon finance into the future.

A presentation on the report was given by Liam Salter, head of WWF Hong Kong’s Climate Programme and lead author Fulvio Bartolucci, senior consultant at Ecofys-Azure based in Beijing. Christine Loh, Chief Executive Officer of Civic Exchange moderated a panel discussion together with Simon Powell, Head of Regional Research of CLSA Hong Kong, of the report’s main themes and conclusion.
