HONG KONG, 19 May 2017 – Civic Exchange (CEx), an independent public policy think-tank, is proud to announce that Simon Ng has been appointed as a CEx Fellow. Mr. Ng, CEx’s former Chief Research Officer, has deep roots with our organisation dating back to 2001. Mr. Ng, who is trained as a geographer, is now an independent consultant studying air quality, urban transportation and other issues.
Mr. Ng and the American academic Robert Gottlieb have just co-written a book, “Global Cities: Urban Environments in Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and China,” which is being published worldwide today, Friday, 19 May, by The MIT Press. The book looks at three very different urban situations – sprawling Los Angeles, densely vertical Hong Kong, and mainland China’s industrial megacities – and compares how they respond to environmental issues.
Over the years, Mr. Ng has authored or co-authored numerous CEx reports, most recently “Controlling Ship Emissions in the Pearl River Delta” (2016), “Measuring and Improving Walkability in Hong Kong” (2016) and “PM2.5 Pollution Along the Tramway” (2015).
